Viaduct Journal
Viaduct Journal was an experimental transgender student led publication active from 2019 to 2023. It published poetry and essays online, culminating in a self-published hand bound zine compendium titled Waterways in September 2023 with contributions from Rya Wu, Tesla Kawakami, and more. The launch party for Waterways included a large group collage project at New Freeway Hall, and the event was sponsored by 4Culture and the Northwest Film Forum.
The project was based in observing the decay of structures (like the viaduct bridge) in Seattle, and wondering what might take it’s place one day.
As a founding editor, I helped curate and edit submissions. I also contributed essays to the digital and physical publication, and created the collage Unauthorized Occupation which was featured in Waterways.
Unauthorized Occupation is collaged out of bruchures and pamphlets collected from around Seattle, as well as accounts of the occupation of Fort Lawton from the Seattle Civil Rights & History Project.
